Oxford Biomedical Research Centre’s Genomic Medicine Theme based at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics at the University of Oxford is looking for a human genome sequencing Bioinformatician working with Professor Jenny Taylor.

You will have considerable experience of analysing human genome sequence data and have responsibility for developing and applying standard and bespoke bioinformatics pipelines for the comprehensive annotation and interpretation of variants from rare disease and cancer genomes.

This role will offer you access to substantial genome datasets both in-house and through Oxford’s commitment to the UK’s national Genomics England 100,000 Genomes programme. You will collaborate with, and provide bioinformatics support to, academic clinicians and scientists from multiple disciplines.

This is an exciting position for a very motivated and dynamic individual to develop a career in translational bioinformatics in the context of the highly successful translational programme of the Oxford BRC and the internationally renowned research environment of the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics.

You will have a PhD in bioinformatics or statistical genetics with strong postdoctoral experience in human genome sequence analysis. You will need excellent programming skills in languages such as Perl, C/C++, R, Python, Java, SQL or similar. You will have experience of improving and maintaining bioinformatics pipelines and demonstrable commitment to quality and version control and secure data management. Experience of working as part of a team, communicating effectively at all levels, is essential.

The position is fixed-term until 31 March 2020 with the possibility of extension and funded by the Oxford Biomedical Research Centre.
