Dr. Salomé Pinho is seeking a high motivated and independent fellow holding a PhD in Biomedicine, Biochemistry, Biology or other Health/Biological sciences to work as a Post-Doctoral fellow in a project on the Glycobiology/Glycoimmunology field at Institute for Research and Innovation in Health, University of Porto, Portugal (http://www.i3s.up.pt). The successful candidate will develop research activities that will include the handling and processing of human biological samples (with straight collaboration with Centre Hospitals) for further cellular and molecular characterization. Studies on the glycoimmunology field applied to human disease (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) is planned.
 
Minimal qualifications: PhD in Biomedicine, Biochemistry, Biology or other Health/Biological sciences. It is required previous experience in immunology, glycobiology, pathology, animal experimentation (mouse genetics) and clinical studies. The candidate is expected to have experience in some of the following methods: Flow Cytometry (FACS analysis); ELISA; cell culture; immunoprecipitation, western blotting, Immunohistochemistry, and other molecular biology techniques. Primary publications in refereed English language journals; strong written and verbal communication skills.
 
Applicable laws and regulations: Statute of Scientific Research Fellow, in its current form; Regulation of Research Grants from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), IP, enter into force; Regulation of research grants from Ipatimup.

 

Duration of the fellowship (s): The Fellowship will have the duration of 11 months, beginning on March 2017. The Fellowship contract could be renewed.

 

Value of monthly maintenance allowance: €1.495,00, according to the table of values of the fellowships awarded directly by the FCT, I.P. (http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores) and Ipatimup research scholarships. The payment of research scholarship will be made by bank transfer.

 

Methods of selection: The selection method to be used will be curriculum evaluation. The Jury may invite the best ranked candidates for interview.

 

Composition of the Jury: Prof. Dr. Salomé Pinho (President), Prof. Dr. Celso Reis (member), Prof Dr. Ricardo Marcos-Pinto (member), and Dr. Hugo Prazeres (substitute).

 

Form of publicizing/notification of results: the final results of the evaluation will be advertised through an ordered list of the selected candidates by final classification, available for consultation at Ipatimup website. The selected candidate will be notified by email.
