The Austrian Centre of Industrial Biotechnology (ACIB, www.acib.at) in Vienna has a long term program in modern Cell Design and Engineering. Our focus in the group of Bernhard Seiboth is on filamentous fungi which are industrial workhorses for producing organic chemicals, enzymes and antibiotics. Trichoderma reesei is one of these being an important organism for the production of industrial enzymes. ACIB is offering a Master Thesis in the field of genetic engineering of T. reesei with the focus on improving enzyme expression. A background in genetics, biochemistry or biotechnology is requested.

Requirements

Students from biochemistry, molecular biology or biotechnology are encouraged to apply. The appropriate candidate should have experimental skills in molecular biology. Experience in working with industrial enzymes, protein production and protein analytics is preferred. Candidates must have excellent skills in spoken and written English, and interpersonal skills conductive to team work and group research efforts.
