The annual Austrian HPC Meeting 2018 (AHPC18 - https://www.ahpc.at/), sponsored by the Vienna Scientific Cluster (VSC), will be held from February 19-21, 2018, at the Courtyard Marriott in Linz (Upper Austria, Austria). AHCP18 will start with the Opening Celebration of the MACH-2 Supercomputer at JKU where all participants are welcome.

Bringing together scientists and technicians with a background and interest in supercomputing, the conference focuses on several aspects of state-of-the-art topics, as well as on the future development of HPC in Austria. Recent developments and trends for efficient and successful supercomputer applications are presented and discussed in keynote lectures, presentations and three tutorial sessions.

Keynote talks will be held by Dieter Kranzlmüller (Leibniz Rechenzentrum), Wolfgang Wagner (TU Wien), Oskar Mencer (Maxeler Technologies), Karlheinz Meier (University Heidelberg) and Florian Berberich (Jülich Super Computing Centre)

The topics of the tutorial sessions will be:
    • AllScale API and Programming Environment (Herbert Jordan und Philipp Gschwandtner, University of Innsbruck)
    • 1st steps with Hadoop for HPC users (Elmar Kiesling, TU Wien)
    • Get Away From The Command Line: Simplifying Your HPC Workflow (Daniel Marth, Catalysts GmbH)

After the Austrian HPC meeting there will be two workshops on Thursday, February 22:

    • Bioinformatics workshop
The second meeting of the workgroup infrastructure and HPC of the Austrian Bioinformatics Platform (http://bioinformatik.at/workgroup-infrastructure) will focus on computational infrastructure for life sciences, and will bring together experts and users from institutions from entire Austria. The meeting will be driven by impulse talks of the participants and open discussions.

    • InnoHPC workshop
InnoHPC targets SMEs and clusters, providing the opportunity to increase efficiency of innovations and join transnational value-chains in the Danube region. Higher education and research institutions with HPC will get access to exciting real-life cases and opportunities to exploit their entrepreneurial potential. Policy-makers and business support organizations will receive a valuable institutional support for their policies and initiatives.
