held in English by Dr Nancy Pelaez, Fulbright-University of Applied Sciences FH Campus Vienna Visiting Professor. Dr Pelaez is Associate Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences at Purdue University in Indiana. From March to June 2015 she will hold the position of Visiting Professor at the Molecular Biotechnology Section of the Applied Life Sciences Department. In her Campus Lecture she will focus on the question, “What are the essential aspects of biologists’ explanations of cellular and molecular mechanisms?” Her studies have led to a mechanistic model, which scientists highly contextualize and constrain according to biological and societal significance, to guide the use of visual representations in explaining such mechanisms essential for both scientific research and learning.
