Assistant / PostDoc Position (full-time)

Medical University of Vienna

Neuromuscular Research Department (NMRD)
Center of Anatomy & Cell Biology

The Neuromuscular Research Department (NMRD) is an academic expert laboratory dedicated to basic and applied research in the fields of neuromuscular and neurodegenerative diseases, integrating clinical, functional, morphologic, cellular, genetic, and biochemical concepts. We currently focus on muscular dystrophies (MDs), inherited disorders leading to progressive muscle weakness and wasting.

Opportunities: The successful applicant will be engaged in scientific projects at our department and will join a highly experienced team of experts in neuromuscular research. She/he will primarily work in a research project aiming at understanding the molecular link between genetic instability and muscular dystrophies and will apply a wide spectrum of cell- and molecular biology techniques.

Requirements:

We are looking for a highly motivated PostDoc from whom we expect a keen interest in neuromuscular diseases, a strong motivation in working with cell cultures, and a high degree of scientific curiosity. Applicants should have an excellent background in molecular biology, very good experimental skills and a completed study of an M.D. curriculum or PhD degree in life sciences biology, or similar field. Experience with cell culture techniques, immunofluorescence microscopy, and experimental mouse work will be an added advantage. Good organizational skills and ability to work in a team are required.

Start: Immediately (July 2020)

Duration and funding: Initially fixed-term contract (until December 2020); subject to extension; salary according to the Austrian collective agreement.

How to apply: Send your full CV and a covering letter outlining your research experience and interests, as well as contact details of at least 2 referees to:
